Breast Lift

NEW YORK CITY

A breast lift, or mastopexy, restores a firmer, more youthful breast shape by lifting sagging tissue, repositioning the nipple, and reshaping the overall contour. A breast lift elevates and reshapes the breasts without necessarily changing their size, creating a more refreshed, confident silhouette that feels balanced and natural to your body.

What Is Breast Lift Surgery?

A breast lift, also called mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that elevates the breasts, tightens the breast skin, and improves projection, shape and contour. It is the ideal procedure to improve breast shape while maintaining the same volume.  Unlike a breast reduction or augmentation, a mastopexy primarily focuses on shaping and lifting, not changing breast volume.

How Is a Breast Lift Performed?

Breast lift surgery (mastopexy) is performed under general anesthesia in an operating room. Depending on your anatomy and degree of sagging, Dr. Franck may different skin incision patterns to elevate the breast. During the procedure, excess skin is removed, internal tissue is repositioned and tightened, and the nipple–areolar complex is elevated for a more youthful, natural position. The areola and nipple can be reduced in size if needed.

Benefits of a Breast Lift

A More Youthful, Lifted Shape

A breast lift restores a firmer, naturally elevated breast contour, helping your chest look more youthful and refreshed without changing breast volume unless desired.

Improved Nipple Position and Symmetry

By repositioning and reshaping the nipple–areolar complex, the procedure enhances symmetry and restores the aesthetic center of the breast.

Better Proportions and Clothing Fit

A lifted breast contour improves overall body proportions and allows clothing, bras, and swimwear to fit more comfortably and attractively.

Good Candidates for a Breast Lift

You may be a good candidate for a breast lift if you have:

  • Sagging or elongated breasts
  • Nipples that point downward or sit below the breast fold

  • Breast asymmetry

  • Stable weight and good overall health

  • Loss of breast shape after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight changes

  • Realistic expectations about scars and long-term result

During your consultation, Dr. Franck will assess your goals, breast tissue quality, and skin elasticity to determine the most appropriate surgical approach.

FAQs

How long do breast lift results last?

Results often last many years. Longevity depends on skin quality, aging, gravity, and weight stability, but most patients enjoy lasting improvement in shape and position.

There is no age that you have to get a breast lift.  Appropriate candidates range widely. The right time is when sagging or she shape of your breasts affects your comfort, confidence, or clothing fit, and when breast development is complete.

Yes. A breast lift alone reshapes and elevates the breast without adding volume. Implants are optional if additional fullness or upper-pole volume is desired.

Most patients retain normal sensation. Temporary changes are common; permanent loss is uncommon but possible.

A lift reshapes and elevates the breast but does not remove significant volume. A reduction both lifts and decreases size.

Most patients describe mild to moderate discomfort and tightness, typically well-controlled with over the counter medication.

A lift does not significantly change volume, though removing excess skin may make the breasts appear slightly smaller and more compact.

Many patients retain the ability to breastfeed, though it cannot be guaranteed. This depends on anatomy and surgical technique.

Most patients return to light work within 1–2 weeks, depending on their job and healing speed.
